Design
President Theodore Roosevelt commissioned Augustus Saint-Gaudens to design a coin that recalled the Greek and Roman empires, and it is his beautiful rendering of Lady Liberty that has graced the American Gold Eagle bullion coin since 1986. This beloved coin features the image of Lady Liberty with her torch of freedom in one hand and a full olive branch in the other. The word LIBERTY proudly rests above her head, and the Capitol Building lies behind her in the lower left background. The reverse of the coin displays an eagle holding an olive branch in its talons, coming to land in its family nest.
Minting
The gold used to mint the Gold Eagle must be sourced in the United States. It is combined with silver and copper to produce a more wear-resistant coin.
Quality Guarantee
Guaranteed by the Federal Government, Gold American Eagles are globally respected for their quality and purity.
